Action Research Examples

This week we looked at examples of action research. We saw  many different ways to use and apply research. I believe that the important overall theme is for educational leaders to continue to try to improve current learning conditions. Research doesn't have to be a huge, extensive project such as a doctoral thesis to be useful. With the amount of information available at our fingertips through the internet, we can do informal research ourselves on problems that affect us directly on a day-to-day basis. Once we identify an issue, whether it has to do with our management style, individual teachers or students, inequities, school culture, or any other area, we can research and inquire into ways to address it. Then we can continue to ask questions to determine the effectiveness of our solutions. Whether or not our experiments are successful, we learn something new, and eventually student learning will be increased.
